Department Head of Operating Technique

The operating area of Stadtspital Zürich encompasses 16 operating rooms at the Triemli, Waid, and Europaallee locations. Around 170 professionals ensure excellent surgical care for our patients throughout the year. To further develop our department, we are seeking a personality who can lead and let go.

Responsibilities

• Take on professional and personnel leadership of the group leaders in operating technology, patient positioning, and related staff at both locations.
• Provide orientation, create trust, and allow your leaders the space they need for effective action.
• Promote and demand collaboration within the team and actively strengthen cohesion and collective responsibility at the management level.
• Represent the interests of operating technology and patient positioning internally and externally – towards other disciplines, department management, and in target and development discussions.
• Drive the strategic development of the department forward and collaboratively develop new, future-oriented approaches for a modern and efficient daily operating routine.
• Think and act across locations, keeping the overall system in view, and operate with foresight in the sense of uniform standards and sustainable solutions.
• Be responsible for data analysis and reporting to management and keep resources, processes, and relevant key figures in view at all times.
• Actively shape change and development processes with a clear mindset, solution-oriented approach, and the necessary measure in the complex hospital environment.

Profile

• Completed education as a Dipl. operating technician or an equivalent qualification.
• Significant leadership experience with larger teams and a completed further education in leadership.
• Strong knowledge of OP processes, workflows, and interfaces, and navigate confidently in the complex OP environment.
• Characterized by high social competence and pronounced reflection ability.
• Make clear decisions and possess the necessary assertiveness, combined with strong communication skills.
• Capable of conflict resolution: able to mediate, clearly name issues, and maintain trust and sustainable relationships.
• Bring humor, stability, professionalism, and humanity into a demanding daily surgical routine.
