Job Description

The Nickel and Zinc (NiZn) Safety Manager will contribute to the development of NiZn Safety management systems and improvement of global Safety performance. The role will support the implementation of Glencore’s Health, Safety, Environment, Communities & Human Rights (HSEC&HR) strategy.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

• Contribute to the implementation and evolution of Glencore’s HSEC&HR strategy including SafeWork and Fatal Hazard Protocols.
• Support global continuous improvement through contributing to the design of systems and processes to monitor, assure and report on Safety performance.
• Deliver technical support to the NiZn assets in the areas of Safety and Group-wide Safety management system.
• Support the development and implementation of assurance processes for Glencore’s safety management.
• Monitor and report on safety incidents data reported by the NiZn business units.
• Promote a proactive approach to the management of safety and coordinate group safety projects.

Ideal Candidate

• An experienced professional with effective persuasion and decision-making capability.
• Experience in risk management, occupational safety, and process safety management.
• A high level of personal credibility, with the capacity to build respect and trust.

Minimum Requirements

• Degree Qualified (Health and Safety discipline, or other qualification with relevant experience) and >8 years of relevant in-field experience.
• Experience with global operations and standards like ISO19001, ISO 450001, and GRI Standards.
• Fluency in English; proficiency in French or Russian is preferred.
